Loading failure vs missing data

A guide that never appears is a different problem from a guide that appears with wrong programme details. This page focuses on the loading failure: a blank grid, an endless spinner or a guide section that crashes. If the guide loads but shows incorrect or shifted schedules, use the EPG data guide.

Why the guide stays blank or stuck

  • The first EPG download has not completed.
  • The playlist refreshed but the guide did not.
  • The player is holding an old cached guide.
  • The device date, time or time zone is incorrect.
  • Low storage or background apps are slowing the index.
  • The player crashed while building the guide.

Run the safe checks first

Do not uninstall the player as the first response. Reinstallation can remove local favourites and settings. Start with reversible checks and change one thing at a time.

  • Confirm live channels open and the connection is stable.
  • Wait for the initial playlist and guide refresh to finish.
  • Close the player completely, reopen it and check the guide again.
  • Open the player's guide settings and request one manual refresh.
  • Restart the device normally if the refresh stays stuck.

Check the date, time and time zone

An incorrect device clock can prevent the guide from aligning, and some players refuse to show a guide until the clock is correct. UK devices should normally use automatic date and time with the appropriate local time zone so daylight-saving changes are handled automatically.

  • Enable automatic date and time on the device.
  • Confirm the displayed local time is correct.
  • Reset any player-level guide offset to its default.
  • Refresh the guide after correcting the clock.

Clear the guide cache narrowly

Clearing a guide cache is different from clearing all application data. Use the narrowest available option such as Refresh EPG or Clear EPG cache, and avoid the operating system's Clear data command unless you understand exactly what the player stores locally.

  • Prefer Refresh EPG or Update guide.
  • Use Clear EPG cache only when the player provides that specific option.
  • Avoid deleting profiles, playlists or complete app storage.
  • Let the progress indicator finish before judging the result.

When the guide crashes the player

A guide that closes the player usually points to device pressure: low storage, too many background apps or a very large channel list on modest hardware. Reduce device load before blaming the service.

  • Restart the device instead of leaving it in standby.
  • Remove unused applications and keep reasonable free storage.
  • Install operating-system and player updates from trusted sources.
  • Use stable 5 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet where practical.
  • Allow a large guide to finish its first index before opening several sections.

When the source data needs attention

If the guide stays blank in two compatible players after a completed refresh, the source data or its channel mapping may need attention. Contact the authorised provider with the device, player, channel group and the steps you already tried, without sharing the playlist address or login details.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my IPTV guide stuck on loading?

The first download may not have finished, the guide may not have refreshed with the playlist, or the device clock and cache may be wrong. Refresh once, check the time, then clear only the guide cache if available.

Why is my IPTV EPG blank?

A blank guide usually means the schedule has not loaded yet. Wait for the initial refresh, run one manual refresh, check the device date and time, and avoid clearing all app data.

Will clearing the guide cache remove favourites?

A dedicated EPG-cache option normally targets guide data. Clearing all app storage is different and can remove playlists, settings and favourites, so read the label carefully.

Why does the EPG crash the player?

A crash usually points to device pressure: low storage, background apps or a very large channel list. Free storage, update the software and restart the device.

What is the difference between EPG not loading and wrong EPG data?

Not loading means the guide never appears or spins indefinitely. Wrong data means the guide loads but shows incorrect or shifted programmes. The fixes are different.
